Hopefully, everyone has read far enough into the novel to share ideas about:

  1. What is the purpose of the Mayor’s wife?
  2. Why does Zusak choose to include Max Vandenburg in the plot?

Feel free to comment on one, or both, of the questions. Sometimes it’s helpful to embed a quote in your comment in order to make your point clear.  Even a brief explanation, of the specific part of the novel you are referring to, is helpful in providing a context for your observation.

I really enjoyed your responses to the first post regarding your overall impressions of “The Book Thief”. Your writing reflects some deep thinking. Well done!

We started reading Markus Zusak’s, The Book Thief, on Friday, September 19.  The aim of the blog/post is to generate discussion and critical analysis of the novel.
